From the depths of the Second Division to the heights of international football

Niclas Füllkrug's journey to the top of German football is a testament to his unwavering determination and hard work. Once plying his trade in the second division, Füllkrug has fought his way to become a key player for Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and a regular fixture in the German national team.

A late bloomer

Born in Hannover, Germany, in 1993, Füllkrug began his career with local club Werder Bremen. He spent several years in the club's youth system before making his professional debut in 2012. However, it wasn't until he joined Greuther Fürth in 2016 that Füllkrug began to show his true potential. In the 2017-18 season, he scored 14 goals in 33 league appearances, helping Fürth secure promotion to the Bundesliga.

A Bundesliga star

Füllkrug's impressive performances caught the attention of several top-flight clubs, and in 2018, he signed for Hannover 96. He continued to score goals at a prolific rate for Hannover, netting 54 goals in 94 appearances. His performances earned him a call-up to the German national team, and he made his debut in 2019.

International recognition

Füllkrug has been a regular member of the German national team ever since his debut, and he was part of the squad that finished second at the 2020 European Championship. He has also scored several important goals for Germany, including the winner in a crucial World Cup qualifier against North Macedonia in 2021. His impressive form for club and country earned him a place in Germany's squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
